Recap: Iona Prep Gaels vs. Monsignor Farrell Lions
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Iona Prep Gaels had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Monsignor Farrell as Iona Prep made off with a 35-13 win. Winning may never get old, but Iona Prep sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Joey Gaston was a one-man wrecking crew for Iona Prep as he rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 118 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
Although Monsignor Farrell took the loss, they still got scores from Mikai Gamble and Nicholas Souffrin.
Iona Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Monsignor Farrell, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Iona Prep will take on Cardinal Hayes at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Cardinal Hayes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Iona Prep likes a good challenge. Monsignor Farrell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
