Soccer Game Preview: Richlands vs. Virginia High

Richlands hasn't had much luck against Virginia High recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Tornado will head out to challenge the Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. Richlands has given up an average of 4.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Richlands' offense. They came up short against Graham on Tuesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Richlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Graham are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Virginia High). They never let Tazewell get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Virginia High needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

This is the second loss in a row for Richlands and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Virginia High, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Richlands suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Virginia High in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Blue Tornado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
