Baseball Game Preview: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Fillmore Flashes

The La Quinta Aztecs will take on the Fillmore Flashes at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. La Quinta is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

La Quinta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Cate 3-2. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fillmore). They put the hurt on San Jacinto Valley Academy with a sharp 15-4 victory on Tuesday. The Flashes not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 14-2).

Johan Reyes was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Javi Contreras, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Fillmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

La Quinta pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fillmore, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-17.
