Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Island Charter vs. Christ the King

The Mountain Island Charter Raptors will take on the Christ the King Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mountain Island Charter is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lincoln Charter just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Mountain Island Charter came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Lincoln Charter are ranked 135th).

Meanwhile, Christ the King fell victim to Pine Lake Prep and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Pride, falling 4-0. Christ the King haven't had much luck with Pine Lake Prep recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mountain Island Charter's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Christ the King, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Mountain Island Charter was able to grind out a solid win over Christ the King in their previous matchup back in March, winning 2-0. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
