Football Recap: Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Valley Christian played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Benjamin Franklin Chargers 35-6. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Austin Schuder threw for 138 yards and one touchdown. Asher Hanzal was his top target, picking up 63 receiving yards and one TD.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benjamin Franklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talan Speir, who picked up 118 receiving yards and three scores. Speir's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 118 receiving yards. Landon Stetka was in the mix too, providing Benjamin Franklin with two touchdowns.

Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Benjamin Franklin, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Valley Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin will square off against rival Gilbert Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Chargers 9.8, the Knights 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
