Basketball Recap: McDonough Comes Up Short

McDonough fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Huntingtown on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 53-45 to the Huntingtown Hurricanes. The Rams have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, McDonough still got an impressive performance from Maleesah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Garrison, who posted 13 points.

McDonough now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Huntingtown, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

McDonough will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvert at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Huntingtown, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Takoma Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
