Softball Recap: Rivera Takes a Loss

If Rivera was riding high fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Donna last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders came up short against the Lopez Lobos on Wednesday, falling 9-1. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Lobos recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Anahy Gonzalez-Torres made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Rivera's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Lopez, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rivera is set to square off against their familiar foe Porter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lopez will face off against rival Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
