St. Dominic and Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Crusaders will square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Dominic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

St. Dominic hadn't beaten St. Louis University on the road since April 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Crusaders came out on top against the Junior Bills by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Alex Alsop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Dominic's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Eggering, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Chase Hoff also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Francis Borgia. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since March 25th.

St. Dominic's victory bumped their record up to 13-5-1. As for Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

St. Dominic took their win against Lutheran in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
