Basketball Recap: Baldwin Park Comes Up Short

Baldwin Park lost against Sierra Vista back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Baldwin Park Braves took a blow against the Sierra Vista Dons, falling 76-44. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andy Flores, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 23 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in points. Rafael Godinez was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 17 points.

Sierra Vista found their leader in sophomore Ethan Guevara, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dolan Dease, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Baldwin Park's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Sierra Vista, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baldwin Park will face off against Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin Park is facing Nogales at the right time seeing as Nogales is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sierra Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Garey at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Sierra Vista's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Garey has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
