Basketball Game Preview: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. Lutheran Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Resurrection Christian Cougars duke it out with the Lutheran Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Resurrection Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Resurrection Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Berthoud: they outscored them in every quarter. Resurrection Christian strolled past Berthoud with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 57-40.

It was another big night for Olivia Klein, who posted 28 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Callie Gillespie was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Lutheran came up short against University on Tuesday and fell 51-39. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Bulldogs are ranked tenth).

Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Resurrection Christian beat Lutheran 44-35 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lutheran's Berkley Schneider, who had 21 points and six rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Resurrection Christian still be able to contain Schneider? There's only one way to find out.
