Football Recap: Sykiya Tatum Leads Coronado's Defense on Friday

Coronado won the last time they faced Rancho, and Bailey Goldberg did her part to make sure it happened again. The Coronado Cougars blew past the Rancho Rams, posting a 34-0 victory thanks in part to Goldberg, who threw for 102 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes, and also rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. She is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for four or more in the last five games she's played.

One reason for the win was Coronado's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Sykiya Tatum. She has become a key player for Coronado: the team is undefeated when she posts at least two sacks, but 2-4 otherwise.

Coronado moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Rancho, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coronado has already played their next game, a 47-0 victory against Faith Lutheran on the 3rd. As for Rancho, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-12 win against Desert Pines on the 7th.
