Football Recap: St. Michael Catholic Starts off Right with Win over Bayside Academy

St. Michael Catholic took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 41-10 win over the Bayside Academy Admirals. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Gunner Rivers went supernova, throwing for 240 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75.8% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Noah Moss helped Rivers out on the ground, rushing for 107 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

When it comes to explaining why Bayside Academy lost, don't look at Walker Collins. Despite the final result, he picked up 55 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 33 yards. Collins showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 50 yards.

Coming up, St. Michael Catholic is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bayside Academy, they will host Marbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
