Softball Recap: Hampton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Hampton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Shaler Area Titans by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Talbots of the 11-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Marissa Snyder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Hampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Hanna, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The victory got Shaler Area back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will host North Hills at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shaler Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
