Baseball Recap: Mater Academy Charter Drops Highest Score of Season Against Archbishop Mccarthy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Academy Charter). Everything went their way against the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks on Thursday as the Mater Academy Charter Lions made off with an 11-5 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Alfrin Rosario made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Gabriel Granadillo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Fernandez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Eiker Noriega was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
