Baseball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. Heritage Patriots

The Berean Christian Eagles will face off against the Heritage Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Berean Christian 3.1, Heritage 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Berean Christian's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Foothill hitters got past them. The Eagles came up short against the Falcons on Thursday, falling 12-3. The Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Damon Neu made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Max McTighe, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Heritage unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Redwood by a score of 8-6.

JJ Kinnaird was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Aiden Lingley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Jett Guevara was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Berean Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Berean Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
