Basketball Recap: Essence Rodgers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blacksburg over Chapman

It was a proper cat-fight when Blacksburg took on Chapman on Tuesday. The Blacksburg Wildcats took a 64-50 bruising from the Chapman Panthers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Blacksburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Essence Rodgers, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of K.K. Dawkins, who had 16 points.

Krislyn Wilder was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine assists for Chapman. Wilder's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kara Twitty was another key player, putting up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Blacksburg now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Chapman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Blacksburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-49 defeat against Union County on the 12th. As for Chapman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-22 win against Chesnee on the 11th.
