Softball Recap: Charlotte Drops Highest Score of Season Against Port Charlotte

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charlotte). Everything went their way against the Port Charlotte Pirates on Thursday as they made off with a 19-5 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Fightin' Tarpons with their most commanding win of the season.

Dava Hoffer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Hoffer was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Charlotte got a massive performance out of Grace Lewin, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Lewin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haven Hickox, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.

Charlotte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Charlotte only posted a batting average of .304.

Charlotte now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Port Charlotte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte will host Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Port Charlotte, they will be playing at home against Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Bullsharks at the right time seeing as the Bullsharks are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
