Softball Recap: Lynn Classical Has No Trouble Against Somerville

Lynn Classical won the last time they faced Somerville and things went their way on Monday too. The Rams put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 16-4 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly 12 runs.

Brooke Braswell and Aysia Olaes made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Braswell tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Olaes struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. At the plate, Braswell went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Olaes went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Chevalier and Emma Pento did most of the damage at the plate: Chevalier went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Pento got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Chevalier has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Eth, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Lynn Classical kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Lynn Classical now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Somerville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lynn Classical is set to face off against their familiar foe Chelsea at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Somerville will take on rival Revere at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
