Baseball Recap: Littlerock Comes Up Short

Littlerock had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-11-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Palmdale Falcons, falling 16-6. The Lobos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

As for Palmdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Palmdale's part, Richard Romero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Romero has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Palmdale let Xavier Mejia and Matthew Gibbons run wild. Mejia went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gibbons went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Gibbons is becoming a predictor of Palmdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-12 when he doesn't). Kaleb Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
