It was a good run, but Cerritos unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Artesia Pioneers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-51 on January 13th.

It was another big night for Jovell Tate, who went 7 for 11 en route to 25 points and eight boards for Artesia. That's the most points Tate has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christopher Vargas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Cerritos' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-14. As for Artesia, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cerritos will take on Oxford Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cerritos' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Artesia, they will square off against Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Artesia is facing Glenn at the right time seeing as Glenn is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
