Basketball Recap: Bonita Vista Find Success

Bonita Vista lost to Academy of Our Lady of Peace back in December of 2016, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Bonita Vista Barons made off with a 31-30 win over the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Barons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bonita Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vida Byers, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Byers a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Shea Gonzalez, who put up six points and three steals.

Bonita Vista's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Bonita Vista will host Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they will venture away from home to face off against San Diego at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
