Baseball Game Preview: Mandeville Skippers vs. Loranger Wolves

Mandeville has gone a perfect 3-0 against Loranger recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mandeville Skippers will take on the Loranger Wolves in a tournament on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Loranger will be up against a hot Mandeville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Mandeville came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Lakeshore.

Logan McNamara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Mandeville: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mandeville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Hatchett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Loranger entered their matchup against Slidell on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Loranger fell 4-1 to Slidell.

Mandeville pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Loranger, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Mandeville was able to grind out a solid win over Loranger in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, winning 19-15. Does Mandeville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Loranger turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
