Maxwell won the last time they faced Sutherland, and Jesse Reyes did his part to make sure it happened again. The Maxwell Wildcats walked away with a 52-44 win over the Sutherland Sailors on Tuesday thanks in part to Reyes, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high.
Sutherland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mason Mortimer, who put up 11 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Tristan Maxcy, who had six points and seven rebounds.
Maxwell's record is now 5-12. As for Sutherland, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Maxwell will take on Maywood/Hayes Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sutherland, they will challenge Garden County on Tuesday.
