Basketball Recap: Denver Jewish Day Takes a Loss

Denver Jewish Day was the 61-48 winner over Vail Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Denver Jewish Day Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 50-49 to the Vail Christian Saints.

Despite the loss, Denver Jewish Day still got an impressive performance from Solly Bielsky, who went 8 for 15 en route to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That was a full 44.9% of Denver Jewish Day's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Rafailov, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Vail Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oliver Neumann, who scored ten points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Asher Leonard, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points.

Denver Jewish Day now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Vail Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Denver Jewish Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-56 loss against Pikes Peak Christian on the 13th. Vail Christian has also already played their next game, a 72-51 defeat against Vail Mountain on the 10th.
