Basketball Recap: Nathan Bruton Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Oak Grove Classical Academy

There's no place like home for Magdalena, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They secured a 47-43 W over the Oak Grove Classical Academy Owls on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 36-21 last Saturday.

Magdalena got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Bruton out in front who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave Bruton a new career-high. Noah Guerro was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Magdalena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Chase Atkinson and Nico Moore certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Atkinson had 17 points, while Moore earned 14 points. That was a full 39.5% of Oak Grove Classical Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Atkinson has put up more than a third of the team's points.

Magdalena's record now sits at 3-4. As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Magdalena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 32-28 victory against Des Moines on the 18th. As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on East Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
