Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Highland Rams

Viewmont is 8-2 against Highland since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. at. Viewmont is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Viewmont pushed their score all the way to 65 on December 12th, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mountain Ridge 69-65.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kade Cannon, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Draper, who scored 18 points.

Meanwhile, Highland's game last Wednesday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost to Riverton on the road by a decisive 66-50 margin. Highland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was George Mcconkie, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Isaiah Drisdom was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Viewmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Viewmont hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.4 points per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've been averaging only 61.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Viewmont lost to Highland on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Viewmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
