Soccer Game Preview: Mission Vista vs. Mt. Carmel

Mission Vista will venture away from home to face off against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mission Vista is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Escondido on Friday. Mission Vista fell 2-0 to Escondido. While losing is never fun, Mission Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Escondido is ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel has been struggling as of late, and they have yet to win a game this season. Neither they nor Westview could gain the upper hand two weeks ago so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sundevils as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mission Vista suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3-3. Mt. Carmel's draw gives them a new season record of 0-5-2.

Mission Vista might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Mt. Carmel in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Mission Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
