Basketball Recap: Stonewall Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Stonewall entered their tilt with Stratford on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They managed a 62-56 win over the Stratford Bulldogs. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-46 back in December of 2024.

Stratford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Buddy Abney, who made all 6 shots he took for 16 points. Another player making a difference was Oliver Smithwick, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Stonewall is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Stonewall will take on Maud at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Stonewall is facing Maud at the right time seeing as Maud is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Stratford has already played their next match, a 63-45 defeat against Strother on the 25th.
