3A District 2 recap October 1, 2013

Robertson's Dominic Lucero rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A District 2 this season in his game against Capital last week. Lucero's team bested the Jaguars as he sprinted for 65 yards on the play and finished with 138 in all.

Robertson was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Leroy Gonzalez's team defeated Capital 47-8.

Taos's dynamic duo of Mateo Martinez and Larry Martinez proved tough for Santa Rosa to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Martinez threw for 90 yards and Martinez had 31 yards receiving.

Lucero was a passing and rushing force as the Cardinals bested Bill Moon's team.

Robertson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nathan Lesperance has thrown for 345 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while James Gonzales III has 6 catches for 136 yards.

Robertson took down the Jaguars 47-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lucero ran for 138 yards in the win.
