Basketball Recap: Canyon Piles Up the Points Against Fullerton

A well-balanced attack led Canyon over Fullerton in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Comanches blew the Indians out of the water with a 79-32 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-22.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonah Kim, who went 7-for-9 en route to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Kim a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rami Awad, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Canyon was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fullerton only racked up six.

Despite the loss, Fullerton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Braxton Wink posted 12 points. Luka M Serratos was another key player, putting up six points.

Canyon has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 81.0 points this season. As for Fullerton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Canyon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-55 victory against St. Bernard on the 19th. As for Fullerton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-37 loss against La Serna on the 19th.
