The Middle Park Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Monte Vista Pirates at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Middle Park will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Last Saturday, Middle Park got the win against Fort Lupton by a conclusive 3-0.
Middle Park found their leader in freshman Brooke Riddle-Robinson, who had six digs and four aces.
Middle Park was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 13 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista didn't have quite enough to beat Sanford on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Monte Vista took Sanford into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 15-9.
Middle Park will have to contain Abbi Ortega as she made an impact in Monte Vista's last game. She had ten assists and seven digs.
Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Middle Park, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Middle Park has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Monte Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
