Baseball Game Preview: Central Wildcats vs. Catholic Bears

For the second straight game, Central will face off against Catholic. Central will take on Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Central had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Catholic put an end to it on Thursday. Central wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since March 1st.

For Catholic's part, Mills Richardson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Noah Lewis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jack Ruckert, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Central's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-7.
