Softball Recap: South Pointe Stallions vs. Northwestern Trojans
South Pointe extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-18 in the process. They came up short against the Northwestern Trojans, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on April 14th.
As for Northwestern, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.
For Northwestern's part, Abby Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Williams has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Charlie Pendergraph was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. McKenzie Melton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, South Pointe will square off against Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will take on Indian Land at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
