Volleyball Recap: Alta Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Alta entered their tilt with East on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Leopards. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Alta was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-14, 25-12.

Alta found their leader in freshman Mayson Meirinho, who had three digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Meirinho. Ty Mahe also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Alta was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 14 consecutive matches.

Alta's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for East, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-23.

Looking ahead, Alta will challenge Skyline at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Taylorsville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Leopards are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
