Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Lumberjacks vs. Edgewood Cougars

The Oakwood Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to square off against the Edgewood Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oakwood will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

While Oakwood's victory against Brookville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lumberjacks skirted past the Blue Devils 6-4.

Owen Hoersting and Nate Patterson did most of the damage at the plate: Hoersting went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Patterson went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Patterson's first of the season. Braden Devine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Edgewood suffered their closest defeat since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Ross by a score of 4-2.

Oakwood's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Edgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
