Football Recap: Tabernacle Torches vs. Cornerstone Christian Eagles

Tabernacle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell to the Cornerstone Christian Eagles 38-32. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Torches couldn't quite close it out.

Tabernacle's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Kyle Gillis and Alex Tank. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.

Leading Cornerstone Christian to victory were Jess Nelson and Colby Harrison. Nelson rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, while Harrison rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Harrison got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 57 yards.

Tabernacle's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cornerstone Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-1 record.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clay County Christian Academy the next time they take the field. Cornerstone Christian will host Clay County Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Tabernacle will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th.
