Football Game Preview: El Modena Vanguards vs. Cypress Centurions + Official Tickets

The El Modena Vanguards will venture away from home to square off against the Cypress Centurions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, El Modena ended up a good deal behind Capistrano Valley and lost 30-14. While losing is never fun, the Vanguards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Cougars are ranked 35th).

Although El Modena took the loss, they still got scores from Nathan De La Vega and Aiden Sullivan.

Meanwhile, Cypress was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Trabuco Hills, falling 28-7. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

El Modena now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cypress, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

El Modena strolled past Cypress in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vanguards since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
