Baseball Recap: Canton Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

While Canton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the Holmes County Central Jaguars on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Alonzo Reed was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged four or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Javeyon Carter, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .568 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Canton pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Holmes County Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 0-1-4.

Looking ahead, Canton will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canton knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Greenville likes a good challenge. As for Holmes County Central, they will head out to square off against Cleveland Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
