Basketball Recap: Council Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Council fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Compass Charter on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aviators. While the Lumberjacks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Aviators 16-12 in the first quarter.

Compass Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Hymas, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Hymas has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Felgenhauer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Council's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Compass Charter, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Council and Homedale will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2026. As for Compass Charter, they will head out to square off against Emmett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
