Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perrydale). Everything went their way against the Colton Vikings on Friday as they made off with a 26-10 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sophie Jackson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, six RBI, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Parr, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI and three runs.
Perrydale hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colton struck out six times.
The win was the fifth in a row for Perrydale, bringing their record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.2 runs over those games. As for Colton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10-1 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Perrydale is set to take on their familiar foe Western Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Pirates' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Pioneers have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Colton will challenge rival Kennedy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
