Papillion-LaVista and Gretna are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Monarchs will take on the Dragons in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Papillion-LaVista barely beat Bellevue East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Monarchs never let the Chieftains get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Thursday. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Chieftains recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Landyn Albrecht made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over seven innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matchups. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Pamaran, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evan Eddie, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Gretna was able to grind out a solid win over Fremont on Thursday, taking the game 3-0.
Not much got past Griffin Goldman, who gave up just a hit to keep Fremont off the board. Goldman also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Gretna is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Gretna saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Lakers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Gretna's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Papillion-LaVista, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
Everything went Papillion-LaVista's way against Gretna in their previous meeting back in April, as Papillion-LaVista made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Monarchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
