Softball Recap: Mountain Home Wins Going Away Against Columbia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Parma, Mountain Home was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Columbia Wildcats 20-4. The contest marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Madison Cotton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Blair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Orie Rau, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Mountain Home always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain Home's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Columbia, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mountain Home beat Columbia by a score of 17-0 later that day.
