Recap: Therrell Panthers vs. Augusta Christian Lions
The Therrell Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 59-43 to Augusta Christian. While losing is never fun, Therrell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while Augusta Christian is ranked 45th).
Despite the defeat, Therrell saw an underclassman step up: Morion Mcwhorter dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Mcwhorter is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Taylor, who scored 14 points.
Therrell has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Augusta Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Therrell's road trip will continue as they head out to face Clarke Central at 12:45 p.m. on December 23rd. Clarke Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games. As for Augusta Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Marietta at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
