Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Community Christian's 11th in Last 12 Outings

On Thursday, the Community Christian Cyclones beat the Goldsboro HomeSchool Heat 89-80. Given the Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Heat are ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Community Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Gattis, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 28 points. The matchup was Gattis' third in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Briceson Martin, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Community Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Goldsboro HomeSchool, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Community Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goldsboro HomeSchool, they will venture away from home to challenge Grovemont at 4:15 p.m. on February 21st.
