Football Game Preview: Bloomsburg Panthers vs. Shikellamy Braves

Two dominant signal callers in Wyatt Brosious and Brody Rebuck are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomsburg Panthers will be playing at home against the Shikellamy Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Bloomsburg's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hughesville 35-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

One reason for the win was Bloomsburg's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Mark Katulis, Hunter Collett, and Shane Frey, who each picked up one sack apiece. Julius Serrano got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shikellamy). They breezed past Selinsgrove to the tune of 48-7 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Shikellamy's win came from a few key players Bloomsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady Kurtz, who rushed for 60 yards and one TD. Those 60 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Shikellamy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Bloomsburg and bumps their season record up to 6-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 8.8 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.38 in the others. As for Shikellamy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Bloomsburg beat Shikellamy 39-29 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
