 Cottondale is 8-2 against Vernon since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Wednesday. The Cottondale Hornets will play host again  on Wednesday to welcome the Vernon Yellowjackets, where first pitch is scheduled  at 6:00  p.m. Cottondale is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.2  runs per game  this season.

Hinson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Hinson was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances with three  RBI, a  stolen base,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  Cole Reagan was  incredible,  scoring four  runs and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.  Doug Pippin was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 Meanwhile,  after a string of six wins, Vernon's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They fell just short of Ponce De Leon by a score of  8-6.
  Landon Cooper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.
 Cottondale's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Vernon, their defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 7-6.
 Wednesday's   match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cottondale has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Vernon struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .530. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
