East Carteret came into Wednesday's match looking for another win against Southside, but Lily McLean wouldn't allow it. The Southside Seahawks walked away with a 52-42 victory over the East Carteret Mariners on Wednesday thanks in part to McLean, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Tamya Smith was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and three steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games she's played.

Several Mariners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Estella Lewis, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Baker, who put up 11 points.

Southside is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing 8.36 assists in those games compared to only 8.36 in the others. As for East Carteret, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Southside has already played their next game, a 56-44 loss against Northside - Pinetown on the 31st. As for East Carteret, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 50-34 win against Jones on the 31st.
