Baseball Recap: Thornton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Thornridge on Friday, Thornton came back down to earth. The Wildcats came up short against the Rich Township Raptors on Monday, falling 11-3. The Wildcats have struggled against the Raptors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Rashaad Battie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Antoine Bishop made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Thornton is 5-2-1 when Bishop posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Jovontae Wade was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 9-9-1. As for Rich Township, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.

While Thornton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
