Preview: Kearney Catholic Stars vs. Adams Central Patriots

The Kearney Catholic Stars will head out on the road to take on the Adams Central Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kearney Catholic is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kearney Catholic beat Lincoln Christian 53-47. The win was just what Kearney Catholic needed coming off of a 59-33 defeat in their prior game.

Kearney Catholic relied on the efforts of Oliver Sharp, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Carson Murphy, who scored 18 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murphy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bosshamer, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Adams Central came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Lexington 53-36. Given Adams Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Lexington is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tate Mcintyre, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Teichmeier, who scored ten points.

Kearney Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Adams Central's record now sits at 17-4.

Kearney Catholic came up short against Adams Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 40-31. Can Kearney Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
