Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

Mt. Vernon was the 2-1 winner over Pike Central when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Saturday.

Mt. Vernon's goal came courtesy of CJ Gentry, which was the first he's scored this season.

Mt. Vernon now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Pike Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

While Mt. Vernon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
